Grad School

I am completed my graduate studies as an international student during the pandemic! I studied spatial ecology in white tailed deer looking to understand how deer movement patterns respond to hunter presence.
Graduate school taught my an incredible amount and I was diagnosed with ADHD (combined type) in March of 2021 and I am still learning about what this means! This diagnosis has opened my eyes to so many things in the years since.
Pre grad school
I am a first gen student and my BSc is in Zoology from The University of Manchester, UK.
I grew up in a single parent household and we lived in rural England and rural Australia as children.
Originally, I wanted to be a vet and was interested in large carnivores. As a teenager I resonated with the way that large carnivores are often misunderstood and I was determined to change perceptions (Shoutout to Steve Irwin for always being so passionate about misunderstood creatures). As it turns out I now spend more time changing perceptions of what it means to be a wildlife biologist/zoologist/geographer and outdoorsperson! Diversity work and representation has become a really important part of what I am passionate about now as an adult.
As a scientist and an individual I am keen to continue pursuing not only knowledge but a deep understanding of both the wildlife we live alongside and the communities that benefit from/interact with those wildlife communities.

Passions and interests

I love to travel! Anywhere and everywhere, if you were to ever take a road trip with me you would find us stopping at all the things to see
I am also passionate about hiking, camping, fly fishing (this is a new one), hunting (I’m learning), wool spinning, sourdough, adventuring to new places and sights, and learning about the traditional stewards of the lands we recreate on. I love to network with folks and connect others in the community with each other! I’m always excited to teach others new things that I’ve learnt or can share!
